I would love to know why Augusta Christian and ACS, Fury’s Ferry Road, chose not to continue serving as election sites. Thank you for your hard work and for helping make our county’s operations more transparent.

They didn’t give a specific reason why. It could be that they’ve experienced growth and can’t accommodate giving up that space for elections. Nancy Gay mentioned another church in the past that stopped hosting elections because they opened up a preschool. The Board of Elections has been moving out of the schools in more recent years, because there is a bigger risk that something could disrupt the election, like a fire alarm or something like that. Plus, during pick up and drop off times, it can be tricky. There is a lack of community centers/spaces in the county though and then we end up having to depend on private entities.

I believe the other church was Westside Baptist. I managed it before the merge with Abilene. And now I'm at Stevens Creek Community, where we are being merged with both ACS locations. It's like I'm being singled out!! HAHA (kidding)

Thank you again!
