Resolution 25-15 Regarding the Annexation request from Harlem. Approve: Yay 5, No 0 763 Acres. There is strong citizen opposition. The new zoning for Harlem would be 5x the currently zoned density. The county did not anticipate or plan for that much density in that area. Asking Harlem not to do this because the County hadn’t planned on providing infrastructure for that high of housing density in that area.
Vote to withdrawal Columbia County from Greater Clarks Hill Regional Library System and establish Columbia County as it’s own independent library system. Approve: Yay 5, No 0 The County looked at removing itself from the State/PINES system but would incur many costs and lose many services so it County does not recommend that. However, establishing Columbia County as own independent region would allow for more autonomy. This would remove the County from the Region effective January 1, 2026.
