  • Utilized reading intervention strategies that will be further used throughout the school year

• Summer Planning Retreat

  • Using Data Analysis, developed goals and action plans

  • Principal comments (Grovetown ES)

    • Retreat held in June with invited stakeholders

    • Using data, found strengths and weaknesses. Looked for the cause of weaknesses and developed a plan/strategy to address weaknesses.

• Back to School Information, Dr. Bosch

  • Discussed the framework implementation

    • Develop curriculum guides

    • Professional learning on research-based instructional strategies

    • New Training Required for all K-5 teachers who do not hold a reading intervention/dyslexia endorsement due to HB 538

      • All training must be complete by June 2025

      • Georgia Literacy Academy

        • 10 courses, 29 hours

        • Can use planning time but many teachers will have to use their personal time.

        • Board member asked if we could implement some sort of “comp time” but that’s not feasible for this because the classroom would still need to be staffed with a sub.

        • Later in the meeting - board approved (5 yay, 0 no) to give a one-time $300 stipend to partially compensate for the extra time spent on this class.

          • Dr. Bosch believes other districts are giving $900 stipend but the superintendent only asked for $300.

• Transportation, Penny Jackson

  • Busses 100% inspection

  • 7/17 Driver appreciation cookout

  • 7/31 Drivers pick up busses and will be driving around

  • Encourages parents to download Edulog Lite School Bus App

  • Drivers will be at Open House

• CCSD Police

  • Updated School Safety Plans (including the AEDs)

• Building Program

  • Lakeside High School

    • 30 classrooms updated

    • Utility/underground challenges with the new student parking lot- will be complete sometime during 1st semester

    • Look for notices from the HS and MS for adjustments to the car line due to construction

  • Westmont

    • Gym won’t be complete before school opens

    • Teachers should be able to go into the classrooms next week but might be delayed. There will be more information this week.

      • There will be a team to help move things into classrooms

  • N Columbia

    • On schedule for next school year

  • Euchee Creek and Greenbrier Elementary Schools

    • Construction in the entryway won’t be complete but students will still be able to use the entryway.

  • Evans HS

    • Student parking will be at Sanctuary Church

      • There will be an additional crossguard to help with pedestrian traffic from the parking lot.

    • 3 State Championships

    • 26 Regional Championships

    • 2 High Schools received state sportsmanship awards

    • 81 students received sports scholarships

    • 177 honor graduates (seniors) were also athletes.

  • Game Times

    • He went through this kind of fast but the bottom line is, game times are based on rules set by the GHSA.

    • GHSA also have rules about safety protocols based on the wet bulb temps which are supposed to be checked regularly during games and practices.

  • Senior passes (for age 65 and up) increased from 325 to 551. This is popular with area senior citizens.

• Staffing Update

  • Less than 10 core vacancies

    • Less than 5 K-5 vacancies - these are positions looking for specific skill sets (i.e. gifted AND ESOL certs)

  • 20 non-certified vacancies

  • Expected to fill all vacancies soon. Had a hiring event today.

  • 400 Subs

    • Deep enough pool and close to pre-covid levels
